Twitter: How to for Businesses – IV

Twitter is becoming the prime testing center for businesses to explore the social media landscape. What started out as an easy way to keep updated with friends and family has now exploded into an online marketing phenomena. More and more, businesses are realizing that they need to jump on board with this popular communications technology. The issue for many businesses, though, is that they don’t know how to do it.

So how does it work?  The fact of the matter is that using Twitter for businesses is quite similar to those who use Twitter as a personal social tool. This social networking website allows anyone – a business or a regular person – to write messages that are 140 characters or less. Imagine getting continual opportunities to get the attention of potential and current customers by simply sending out an effortless Tweet, (also known as a Tweeb for businesses). It’s an incredibly inexpensive, yet effective way to keep your customers in the know.

These messages can be anything. For a business, they might want to update their latest products or services. A real estate company in Utah, for instance, might update that they have new Saragota Springs Utah homes that just became listed. A photography studio may want to discuss their newest packages and special deals. These messages are posted in a public area which means they can be seen by many, many people. People use Twitter to create real-time messages and updates to share with everyone in their network. Businesses can do the same.

Using this social media landscape for marketing purposes requires continual updates. Quick messages that are interesting are what will really work to get people to notice your posts. Also, frequent updates show how up-to-date your company is which also serves as a fast way to spread the news of any exciting changes. It’s like sending a letter to your clients using FedEx overnight delivery. The difference is that with Twitter, your clients won’t have to decide if they want to throw away the letter without reading it; they can simply scroll down the updates and peruse over yours without even realizing it’s an advertisement.
