Shortly after I began the journey in the world of search engine optimization and taking to make money online, I went through a dark phase.  I call this phase my Analytics Addiction.

What else can you call it, when one spends the hours I did poring over the data from my Google Analytics account? I would spend hours every day reviewing every single keyword that had ever been entered to find one of my websites or blogs. I had multiple statistics tracking codes on each website and I would analyze the different results produced by each traffic tracker.I would search for my primary keyword on Google three or four times an hour.  Each incremental shift upward in the rankings would set off a round of celebration. Each incremental shift downward would send me into a foul mood. I would yell angrily at my family for disturbing me, re-read some guide or other about how to drive traffic to your website, and just generally be an unproductive moody cuss. (more…)

Personal Branding: What Is It – Why Do It- How to Go About It

Pepersonal branding rsonal branding is a whole new approach to marketing. Now, instead of simply working on increasing the popularity of the company brand name, more and more people are working on increasing the branding of their own given name. Many have done it. Celebrities are the best example for personal branding. Business people and celebrities such as Donald Trump with Trump Towers, Martha Stewart with her Martha Stewart Home Décor line and Oprah Winfrey with the Oprah Show and ‘O’ magazine are all prime examples of personal branding. Perhaps that is a great contributing factor to their multi-million dollar empires.

So what is it? It’s simply a way of getting the name of the person out there instead of the name of the company or entity. OR – the name of the person becomes the name of the company or entity. Not everyone has jumped on the bandwagon, though. (more…)

Are you using Twitter as a marketing tool?

I have been quite active on Twitter for some time now and have analysed a few thing. I have seen people using Twitter as a mean for marketing their product or services or just self promotion, I do like twitter as a mean for marketing but as I go deeper I see nothing much which can make a difference than the other sites, because my screen is updated with tweets very fast and I miss out a lot of people’s tweets. If one gives time to just analyse the screen, there wont be a chance when you have seen all the tweets quite easily, the problem here is that people have lot many in their following list (even I do have), but I dont see anyone who are able to utilise Twitter as a marketing tool to its full potential, there are many few people on twitter who have understood the real and practical working of Twitter and are able to utilise it efficiently. Twitter is very different from other social media, and is very fast, you need to keep up the pace too.

Why blogs die and how to regain its life again.

I have been constantly noticing a few things which are effecting most of the bloggers and has even effected me. Blogging is a simple word but it relates to you directly, It not a common thing and it needs to be given special attention, most of the blogs coming up recently are not at all meant for the purpose of blogging but they have been made just to earn money online. I too did the same mistake by joining that race but to no success at all. What I found was completely different from what I thought before starting a series of blog on different niches. The most important thing is blogging should be one’s passion not just for the sake of money but for abundance and money will flow in if you are good. This is a time consuming process and many take someone few months but for some it may take years to build up reputation. Infact its the reputation that pays you cause once you have your name you automatically start attracting people and gain more visitors to your blog as constant subscribers. These are the people that matters the most, they have subscribed to your blog because they find your content interesting to read. (more…)

Reddit acting weird or is it still the game of moderators?

from flickr

I have a weird feeling about reddit.com, is it really a social network or its a moderator’s network. Well as far as I can say it was a social network around 2 years back but currently it has become a MODERATOR’S network. I had a very low profile on reddit for last 2 years, infact was not actually using reddit oftenly, but I knew reddit has potential and can drive in a hell lot of traffic if and only if you hit the front page for a couple of hours. Now a days it has totally become dependent on its moderators for promotion and unbanning the news submitted by any user in the appropriate subreddit. These moderators are playing a very unrealistic role and hampering the theme what social media means. It has become a guild, where they are promoting only articles related to their own or of their friends and giving no importance to other domains. (more…)
